Computing and Communications has received a number of reports that popular news and retail websites such as CBC news, Globe & Mail, Walmart Canada and others have been compromised by a Syrian hacking group, and are now distributing malware. As a precaution C&C has blocked access to the parts of those websites that are being used to distribute malware. The sections that are blocked may no longer appear correctly in your browser. Updates on this issue will be posted on the C&C Advisories page at http://www.mun.ca/cc/. Clients who have encountered popups indicating that “This website has been hacked by SEA”, or have any other reason to believe they may have been affected by malware related to these websites are asked to contact the C&C service desk at firstname.lastname@example.org or 864-4595.
