Free Clock-Building Workshop

Learn the basics of 3D modelling as you design and build your own wooden clock!

Please bring your own laptop. If you don’t have access to a laptop, there is a limited number that can be provided for your use. The software we will use is a popular modelling program called fusion 360, for which we will email download and setup instructions.

Schedule: The workshop will be held over two sessions (both of which need to be attended) from 6 PM to 8 PM on Wednesday, September 27 and Wednesday, October 4.

3D Modelling and Makerspace Drop-In

Come visit us Thursdays from 1 – 4 PM and take advantage of our 3D printers, sewing machines, vinyl cutter, and more!

To use a 3D printer, please (for best results) bring a laptop with your model in Fusion 360. If you don’t have a laptop or a Fusion 360 model, that’s OK; extra computers and help will be available on-site for any modelling questions you may have.

Prices are charged to your MUN account and they will be based on print time and materials.

Also available for use are two Singer Stylist sewing machines and a Cricut Explore Air 2.

Summer Pup Pup Boat Workshop

Picture of a pup pup boatThe Makerspace is hosting a workshop to build a Pup Pup Boat. This is a two-day workshop. On the first day, we will teach you in the basic use of Fusion 360 and then you will have some free time to design some boat components. Your parts will then be printed between classes and on the second day, you will assemble your boat.

Smartphone Gimbal

We’ve started working on building a gimbal for use with smartphones for a workshop that we’re doing with an english course in the film and stage program in the fine arts faculty. Stay tuned for the finished product pics and actually footage of it in action!

Makerspace Renovations

Renovations on the future home of the Makerspace are tentatively scheduled to start in early March 2017. The space is located where Copy Services on the main floor of the QEII Library used to reside.
